fortunate to have Joe and Brad Loyet allow us to set up a display in their pit area.
With 5 cars entered in the Chili Bowl and only 2 engine heaters, we offered to let them
use a couple of ours Saturday as 4 of the cars were to race, and needed pre- heated.
I must admit their crew chief was a little skeptical about using a cheap heater.
ever used was 3 times more expensive. I
using a "cheap" heater was something to be
concerned about.
Well as it turned out it was a great experience
for them as they had all their cars up to Temp
for the race, and a great chance for us to see
how our heater compared to "The Hot Set-up"
side by side.
I think everyone who saw our heater in action
was impressed, I know I was..... Our heater
built up to, and maintained 200 deg. Any
better it would just "boil" the water.
Bottom line...."The Hot Set-up" is the Cadillac
of heaters (it is nice) and "The Engine Heater"
(more compact - uses less electric) is the
Chevy of heaters.
They'll both get the job done.

Brad Cox...The 16 year old from Australia.
Only the 2nd time in a midget and only had ran
8 laps before getting rained out before coming
to the Chili Bowl...Looks like an up and coming
midget pilot.
Reportedly reached 210 degrees with "The
Engine Heater" in 30 minutes.

The 1st thing we did was to tape our banner to the wall behind our display with clear the
most effective way, we found a friend with some 200 MPH duct tape and cured that the

To make our display look as nice as possible we brought along 4 gallons of windshield
washer fluid (to give it the blue fresh water
look) and topped it off with a gallon of
anti-freeze (it was in the 20's outside).
Well that lasted about 2 minutes and the
soap in the windshield washer juice foamed
up tossing out that mixture and replacing it
with plain tap water. (After flushing the tank
out about 5 times).
It was a good thing it was the night before.
